All of the Big Six clubs in the Premier League showed interest in Antoine Semenyo at some point. Initially, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur seemed like the frontrunners to sign the Bournemouth winger.
Then, Manchester City entered the picture, Arsenal fell behind, and Tottenham was also sidelined after Semenyo declined their offer. Chelsea made a late attempt to join the competition.
Ultimately, it became a three-way contest between Liverpool, Manchester United, and Manchester City, with Manchester City appearing to be the frontrunners in this January transfer window before any deals were finalized.
A report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano indicates that Manchester City is in “direct contact” with Bournemouth for a deal involving Antoine Semenyo, who favors a move to Man City.
The intriguing aspect of this situation for Manchester City is a 65 million pound release clause, available for clubs to sign Semenyo at a reasonable price if the agreement is made within the first 10 days of the January transfer window.
However, Manchester City is aiming to negotiate a lower price. Romano mentions that they are exploring a “different deal structure” along with altered “payment terms,” suggesting that the club is looking to secure an even better deal with Bournemouth.
