Leeds manager Daniel Farke praised his team’s mindset after a goalless draw at Crystal Palace.

Leeds remains three points clear of the relegation zone following a solid defensive effort at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

The team missed a chance to score early when Dominic Calvert-Lewin failed to convert a penalty, and matters worsened shortly after as Gabriel Gudmundsson was sent off during first-half stoppage time.

Referee Thomas Bramall initially gave Gudmundsson a yellow card for a foul on Ismaila Sarr but, after intervention from Palace players and the fourth official, he issued a red card instead. Despite being down to ten men, Leeds managed to keep a clean sheet.

According to the BBC, they became the first team since the 2003-04 season to have a player sent off in the first half and not allow a single shot on target.

In a post-match interview with BBC Match of the Day, Farke expressed confidence in his team’s ability to avoid relegation.

“I trust my players completely. We may not be perfect, but the mentality in the locker room is exceptional,” he said.

“Given the situation in a tough away match, we defended well and didn’t allow any scoring opportunities. Overall, our expected goals were higher than our opponents’. It was a fantastic effort in defense, a clean sheet, and a point earned on the road.”
