Barcelona’s problems with the Camp Nou stadium continue. The Joan Gamper Trophy, which was scheduled to be held at the legendary stadium, will now be played at the Estadi Johan Cruyff, which is located within the club’s training ground. This may not be the only match to be played there. Barcelona are still negotiating to play their first La Liga home match against Valencia (scheduled for the weekend of 13–14 September), but nothing can be ruled out at this time.

According to Catalunya Ràdio, it is highly likely that the match against Valencia will also be played at the Estadi Johan Cruyff. This would result in a significant loss of income for Barça, as the stadium has a capacity of only 6,000, compared to 111,000 at the new Spotify Camp Nou once construction is complete. FC Barcelona is therefore considering playing this match at the Camp Nou, albeit with a reduced capacity of 30,000 seats. The main challenge now is to obtain the necessary permits for Hansi Flick’s team to make their Champions League debut, as UEFA requires them to play the entire first phase in a single stadium.
