FC Cincinnati has signed defender Kyle Smith, a free agent, through the 2026 MLS season.

The 33-year-old, originally from Cincinnati, also has a contract option extending to June 2027.

Smith recently completed seven seasons with Orlando City, where he scored four goals and provided nine assists over 178 MLS matches from 2019 to 2025.

“We’re excited to have Kyle back in Cincinnati,” said Chris Albright, FC Cincinnati’s general manager. “He brings experience, is a great teammate, and knows how to win. We’re pleased to have him on board.”

During his time with Orlando City, Smith contributed to the team’s victory in the 2022 U.S. Open Cup.

“I’m very thankful and eager to join FC Cincinnati,” Smith stated. “This club has a wonderful community and a strong winning culture.

“Returning to Cincinnati is meaningful to me, and I look forward to competing for trophies in front of the best supporters in MLS at TQL Stadium. I’m ready to do whatever is needed to help win games and pursue championships.”

Cincinnati will kick off the 2026 MLS season at home against Atlanta United on February 21.
