FC Versailles has been penalized by the federal disciplinary committee for “presumed violation of the ethics and deontology charter of football”, receiving a fine of €1,000. Additionally, sporting director Salomon Kashala has been suspended for three months, with one month of the suspension deferred, according to Foot Amateur. These penalties follow his comments about player Modeste Doku in the mini-series Le Club, aired in September on Canal+. At the end of the first episode, Kashala stated: “Every training session, while others play football, he jogs around the field. I did this at Dunkerque, separating six players. We set them aside.”
The investigation also targeted president Alexandre Mulliez and general director Fabien Lazare, who were ultimately not sanctioned. Kashala is restricted from participating in federal activities and cannot appear on match sheets for two months, although he will be able to attend matches from the stands. Currently fourth in National and already eliminated from the Coupe de France, the Versailles team will travel to Châteauroux on Friday, 21 November, for the 14th matchday.
