Federico Dimarco became Inter’s main left-back after arriving in 2019. Although he was loaned out to Hellas Verona in 2020, he returned to his best form.
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has relied heavily on Dimarco in recent seasons, and that still confuses the player. “I don’t know if I’m a ‘modern flag bearer’, and I don’t even ask myself that,” he told Italian media Rivista Undici on Thursday (3/27).
However, as Simone Inzaghi’s mainstay, Dimarco can only focus on each match. “I only focus on giving everything I have for this shirt because I know this shirt deserves to be treated in a special way,” said the 27-year-old.

His performances with the Nerazzurri also made Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio give Dimarco a compliment that he will never forget. “I can say who gave me the most unexpected compliment, Piero Ausilio. When I came back from Verona, he said words that surprised me and that I will never forget,” said the Italian national team player.
Dimarco said that in a match he often roams the entire pitch and is good at changing positions. “Although playing as a winger with my strong feet, I don’t like to stay on the wing but prefer to move across the pitch. I often find myself in the central midfield position, even as a striker, also thanks to our playing style,” said the player with the number 32 jersey.

With that role, Dimarco is sure that Inter Milan supporters will love his style of play. “It’s something I like, it entertains me, and I’m sure it entertains the fans too,” he concluded.
This season, Dimarco has played 34 matches. From those matches, he has scored four goals and collected seven assists.
