FIFA Approves Laporte’s Move to Athletic Bilbao

The player can now join Ernesto Valverde’s team right away.

Details: As reported by Carrusel Deportivo, FIFA has approved Aymeric Laporte’s registration with Athletic Bilbao for the current season.

While there’s no official permit for full registration yet, FIFA has allowed the player to participate with his new team until an official decision is made.

Earlier, Bilbao mentioned they intended to appeal to both the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and UEFA for assistance regarding FIFA’s decision. Ultimately, they were ready to approach the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) if needed, but that step was unnecessary.

FIFA had previously delayed confirming the defender’s three-year contract due to waiting on transfer documents from Saudi Arabia.
