FIFA – Turkey : Turkish club Konyaspor banned from signing new players
Konyaspor faces a financial issue.
FIFA has ruled against Turkish club Konyaspor, banning them from signing new players for three transfer windows due to unpaid transfer fees. This situation arose from the transfer of Senegalese striker Bouly Junior Sambou, who joined from Wydad Athletic Club de Casablanca.
After moving to Konya in February 2024 following a strong season in Morocco, Bouly Sambou did not find success in the Süper Lig, failing to score in around ten matches. Ultimately, he was loaned out twice before leaving for Duhok SC in Iraq on a free transfer in the summer of 2025.
Konyaspor has not fulfilled its financial obligations to Wydad Casablanca. As per FIFA’s ruling, the ban will remain until the debt is cleared, meaning the Turkish club cannot register new players for now.
