And not just for the final stage.
Since 2010, FIFA has provided bonuses to clubs for their players’ participation in the final stage of the World Cup. The upcoming 2026 tournament will introduce two key changes to this program.
Details: FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced that a record $355 million will be shared among clubs after the tournament in North America. This marks an increase of nearly 70% from the $209 million distributed after the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
The second major change is that clubs will now receive compensation not only for players participating in the finals but also for those who play in qualifying matches.
Quote: “The expanded version of FIFA’s Club Benefits Programme for the 2026 World Cup takes another step forward by financially recognizing the tremendous contribution that many clubs and their players around the world make to both the qualifiers and the final tournament,” stated Infantino.
