Flamengo coach Filipe Luís expressed his disappointment after the team drew 1-1 with Grêmio at the Maracanã, as reported by Globo Esporte. The equalizer was a late penalty given for a handball by Ayrton Lucas, which Filipe described as questionable. He emphasized that referees should take responsibility for their decisions and learn from their mistakes.

After the match, Filipe shared his frustration: “I wish referees would review their games and correct their errors. Mistakes keep occurring, and the standards don’t change. Matches are disrupted by fouls that often aren’t fouls. It frustrates me, as we want to focus on the game, not the referee,” he said.

The penalty allowed Grêmio to earn a point in a match where Flamengo believed they were in control. The coach pointed out his team’s many scoring opportunities, insisting they merited a win. “We created many chances to score. We dominated the game after going ahead and still found opportunities to secure the victory. In the end, one tough and debatable decision cost us,” Filipe explained.

Despite the draw, Flamengo holds the top spot in the Brasileiro with 47 points, comfortably leading the table. The team will take a short break for international fixtures. Players who are not on national duty will have a few days off before training resumes. Flamengo’s next match is on September 14 against Juventude in Caxias do Sul, where the leaders aim to maintain their momentum.
