Boca Juniors are preparing for major changes to their roster at the end of the year. As reported by Olé, five players will not extend their contracts and will leave in December as free agents. This includes goalkeepers Javier García and Sergio Romero, left-back Frank Fabra, defender Cristian Lema, and midfielder Ignacio Miramón, whose loan from Lille is ending.

García, who is now 38, is the third-choice goalkeeper and is thinking about retiring. Romero, who was once close to becoming a Libertadores standout in 2023, is leaving after a season filled with injuries and issues with fans, having not played at all in the 2025 season.

Fabra, who has been with the club for nearly ten years, played only four times this year and has fallen behind Lautaro Blanco in the lineup. Both he and the club believe his time there has come to an end. Lema has been training alone since he couldn’t reach an agreement for an early exit and will just wait until his contract expires.

Miramón struggled to find consistency and did not meet the conditions to trigger a purchase option. He appeared in 20 games for Boca, with only three in 2025, and was not considered in Miguel Ángel Russo’s plans. Their exits represent a significant squad transformation at Brandsen 805 ahead of the 2026 season.
