Antoine Semenyo is attracting attention in the January transfer window, with several clubs interested in signing the Bournemouth winger.
A £65m release clause is available early in the transfer period, and it is anticipated that it will be activated. Semenyo has been in excellent form this season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists.
Which teams are likely to pursue him? Here’s a look at the odds according to bookmakers.
Tottenham Hotspur have shown interest in Semenyo for some time and checked on his availability last summer. They opted to sign Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons for over £100m but still want Semenyo to enhance their attack.
Despite a rocky start under Thomas Frank, with the team sitting 14th in the Premier League, Spurs remain an option, especially with the appeal of Champions League football.
Arsenal is also keen on Semenyo, but adding a winger is not a top priority for January. Mikel Arteta has options like Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard who play in positions similar to Semenyo’s.
While a summer move might be possible, it seems unlikely he will be available by then.
Manchester United is actively trying to sign Semenyo as Ruben Amorim seeks to strengthen his squad. Last summer’s signings focused on proven Premier League talent, and they see Semenyo fitting perfectly into their plans.
He is considered a potential wing-back, similar to how Amad Diallo has adapted to his new role, adding a goal threat that the current wing-backs have not provided.
Manchester City is seen as the second favorite to sign Semenyo. While Pep Guardiola has many options for the wide positions, uncertainties around Oscar Bobb and Savinho have brought City into the race.
With opportunities for loans, Semenyo’s versatility and homegrown status are appealing to the club.
Liverpool has an interest in Semenyo, as sporting director Richard Hughes was involved in his previous transfer from Bristol City to Bournemouth. Despite having spent over £400m on new players last summer, they didn’t replace Luis Diaz after his transfer to Bayern Munich.
Cody Gakpo has been inconsistent, and Semenyo’s speed could provide a different option. With uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s future, signing Semenyo could benefit Liverpool’s attacking dynamics.
It’s unclear whether the Premier League champions will activate his release clause amid other pressing needs in their defense.
