According to DSports, Flamengo has made a unique request to the United Nations to be recognized as a nation. This announcement, made by Zico, the club’s legendary figure, has attracted global attention.

The club stated: “The Red-and-Black Nation seeks recognition as the first Symbolic-Cultural Nation.” It further claimed: “We are over 45 million people united by a shared passion. We have our culture, our territory, our flag, and our way of speaking.”

As part of this effort, Flamengo has started a petition drive to gather support. If successful, this would be a historical event, as the UN has never acknowledged a nation without a physical territory.
