Dante’s time at OGC Nice is coming to an end, and Sporting Director Florian Maurice is aware of this. During the Ligue 1+ : Le Club program last night, he discussed the need for a successor for the 42-year-old captain, whose contract expires at the end of the season. Maurice revealed that the club is actively considering potential replacements.
“This is something we are thinking about, but replacing Dante is very challenging. He has been with the club for 10 years and has an extraordinary presence. When he’s on the field, the team feels different, and there are positive dynamics in the locker room. It’s always going to be tough to find someone who can fill his shoes, regardless of who we choose. We could look for a player with a similar profile, around 31-32 years old. When he joined, he was 32. I believe in giving young players a chance. Of course, they need guidance, and having Dante around likely makes them better. So yes, we are contemplating this for next season,” said Maurice.
