Amid rising tensions between Barcelona and the Spanish national team regarding Lamine Yamal, a former executive from the Catalan club made a bold statement. The Spanish Football Federation expressed disappointment over Barcelona not informing them about a procedure the player underwent prior to the international break. However, Xavier Sala-i-Martin, the former Barça executive, shared his thoughts in a media appearance covered by Marca.
“Real Madrid fans, selectors, and pundits just need to hear one thing: they can go screw themselves! The Federation should be happy that Lamine is recovering. Or is the Federation’s goal to intentionally injure Barça players and become upset when Barça doesn’t keep them in the loop? The Federation’s doctors have no decision-making authority. If they are surprised or uncomfortable, they should just go away. It’s the Barça doctors who make the decisions,” he stated passionately.
