Doha: Roberto Mancini, the former manager for the Italian national team and Manchester City, is reportedly set to become the new head coach of Qatar’s Al Sadd club. The 60-year-old is expected to travel to Doha today to sign the contract after reaching an agreement with the club.
He has reportedly accepted a deal that will last until the end of the 2025-26 season. The contract is said to include a special exit clause, allowing him to leave in the summer of 2026. Al Sadd, the current champions of the Qatar Stars League, have had a difficult season so far. They are sixth in the league standings with 14 points from nine games and are also facing challenges in the AFC Champions League.
This move marks Mancini’s return to club management. He previously left his role as the coach of the Saudi Arabian national team by mutual agreement in October 2024.
