Axel Tuanzebe, former Manchester United player, has filed a £1 million (approximately €1,133,000) lawsuit against his old club for “medical negligence”, as reported by the Daily Mail. The defender, who is currently with Burnley, claims that the management of his injuries at Old Trafford led to serious and lasting physical issues, preventing him from playing “without restrictions or discomfort”. Tuanzebe, who joined Manchester United’s youth academy at the age of 8 and turned professional in January 2017, has faced several serious injuries, including a lower back fracture in January 2020, which reportedly became chronic by July 2022 after fracturing on the opposite side.
In his lawsuit filed in the High Court in July, Tuanzebe and his legal team highlight the lack of adequate rest and failure to refer him to a sports spinal surgery specialist following his initial injury. They argue that proper treatment could have prevented his injury from becoming chronic and allowed him to continue his professional career at the highest level without restrictions.
