Details: Former Premier League referee David Coote is involved in a serious legal matter. The 43-year-old has been accused of making an indecent video involving a child, which reportedly took place on January 2, 2020. This case is categorized as Category A, the most severe classification for such offenses. Coote is scheduled to appear in court on September 11 for the first hearing.

According to police, the investigation started after officers seized video materials in February. Coote has been under conditional police supervision since August 12. Police confirmed that he has been formally charged with producing an indecent image of a child and is awaiting trial.

Reminder: This is not Coote’s first controversy. In June 2025, the Football Association charged him with an “aggravated breach” of regulations for comments made about former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp. He was dismissed in December 2024 after an offensive video about Klopp circulated on social media.

Coote has also faced disciplinary actions from UEFA. In February 2025, he was banned until June 30, 2026, after a video showed him using a rolled-up banknote to take substances during the European Championship. In a discussion with The Sun, Coote acknowledged that hiding his sexual orientation caused stress that affected his behavior and substance use, impacting his career and personal life.
