On Thursday night, OGC Nice faced a significant defeat in the UEFA Europa League, losing 3-0 to Porto. Currently at the bottom of the standings, Nice has struggled in European competitions, with 17 matches without a victory. This has put coach Franck Haise in a challenging situation.
Haise has been at a loss for solutions in recent weeks. After publicly addressing issues within the team, he considered stepping down following their heavy loss to Marseille (1-5). He confirmed during a press conference on Thursday, “This is an exciting profession, and yes, I reflect on myself. I suggested to the management that I could be the shock treatment after the Marseille defeat, but it wasn’t the right moment; otherwise, I wouldn’t be here. No resignation, but I take responsibility. Conceding a goal like that during our current situation isn’t ideal. We are shooting ourselves in the foot. However, I won’t get discouraged. European competition is over, but I won’t resign.”
