Franck Haise Unleashes His Passion for His Players!

Nice players may find comfort in the fact that Glasgow Rangers are also struggling in the Europa League, but coach Franck Haise refuses to make excuses for his team. Already affected by the Clauss situation, Haise now faces a disappointing Europa League campaign. After losing 3-1 at home to German side Freiburg, despite initially leading 1-0, Nice has become a laughingstock in European football. While they manage to perform well in Ligue 1, the team flounders in Europe.

Currently ranked 35th out of 36 in the Europa League, Nice has lost all four of its matches, which many find amusing. However, Franck Haise is not laughing. Aware of his team’s poor image after yet another continental defeat, he expressed his frustration during a press conference. Typically calm before the media, the former Lens manager seems to have hit rock bottom, feeling that his only option left is to challenge his players publicly.

I’m here, the players need to step up

“We started the match well. Beyond individual mistakes, everyone needs to improve. We are not at the level in European competition. I’ve been talking about expectations since I got here—the daily work, not falling over in duels. Many players go down too easily! It’s the same in training. Stop falling! When we start playing, we need to keep going. Why do we stop? Training at 80% isn’t enough. We need to be at 110%! If they don’t get that, we have to be at 110%! If you don’t put in more effort, you’ll get overwhelmed. In just 13 minutes! Angry? Until we understand that we must stick together… Always! No sulking when you’re on the bench or when you come off! You have to show it on the field! Some play well. Leave your ego at the door. Additionally, there aren’t any World Cup champions here. Let’s give it our all! I expect maximum effort,” he stated, according to RMC Sport.

“We need to talk candidly. I’m a coach who protects his players a lot. I have high standards in my office, but I stand up for them publicly. However, at some point, we need to be honest. When we don’t do enough, we have to admit it. When we lose duels and are on the ground too often, we have to recognize it. If players are unhappy but aren’t performing well, we need to address it. If someone else is better, they’ll take that spot; I have no problem with that. But come on, I’m here—we need the players to step up. We can’t afford to do otherwise; that’s what needs to be understood. We can achieve great things when everyone is giving their best.” That certainly makes things clear.
