Thomas Frank is confident he will not be sacked at Tottenham despite the threat of relegation.
Spurs have now gone eight Premier League games without a win after losing 2-1 to Newcastle United on Tuesday night. Archie Gray equalized after Malick Thiaw’s opener for Newcastle, but Jacob Ramsey scored the winning goal for the visitors.
This defeat leaves Spurs in 16th place in the table, just five points above the relegation zone. Spurs are one of six teams that have never faced relegation from the Premier League but find themselves in a battle for survival recently. Despite these challenges, Frank maintains he has the support of the club’s owners.
“I spoke to them [the owners] yesterday, so no,” Frank told TNT Sports when asked about his job security.
“I understand the frustration and it’s easy to point fingers. That’s part of the job unfortunately.
“I will work day and night to turn this around, but it’s not just on one person. We need to improve, and I have to be involved in that process.”
Tottenham faced boos from the home crowd, who are increasingly frustrated with the team’s performance. Last season, under Ange Postecoglou, Spurs finished 17th, marking their lowest league position since the 1970s.
“I get the frustration. It has been building up, similar to last season with the dual commitments of Europe and the Premier League,” Frank noted.
“We must be mentally and physically resilient. I am completely sure it is a team effort, not just one person. We are all aligned and aware of what needs to be done.”
