Friendly: Liverpool beat Yokohama Marinos with a goal from Florian Wirtz

Preparations for Liverpool continue. Following their 3-1 victory against Preston, the Reds faced AC Milan and lost 4-2. Today in Japan, Liverpool played Yokohama Marinos. The first half of this match was rather dull. The score was level at half-time. After the break, Darwin Núñez missed a great opportunity to put Liverpool ahead in the 52^(nd) minute.

Yokohama then took the lead in the 55^(th) minute through Asahi Uenaka, before Florian Wirtz equalised with his first goal for Liverpool on the hour mark. Trey Nyoni doubled Liverpool’s lead in the 68^(th) minute. Rio Ngumoha made it 3–1, sealing the victory for his club. Notably, Hugo Ekitike made his debut for Liverpool in the starting eleven on Wednesday. For context, he arrived at Liverpool a few days ago for around €90 million.
