The last Premier League match before Christmas will be held at Craven Cottage on Monday night, where Fulham will face Nottingham Forest.
This matchup is crucial for both teams as they enter the festive season. Fulham, currently in 15th place, is eager to recover from a last-minute defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
They are up against a rejuvenated Nottingham Forest team led by Sean Dyche. The visitors come to London after a surprising 3-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur. With just two points between them in the standings, a victory for Forest would push them ahead of Fulham.
Marco Silva faces challenges due to Africa Cup of Nations call-ups, losing key players Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, and Samuel Chukwueze. This will require lineup adjustments, with Jorge Cuenca likely filling in on defense and Kevin possibly starting on the wing. Saša Lukić is a doubt due to a groin issue sustained against Newcastle, though Silva is hopeful. Ryan Sessegnon and Rodrigo Muniz are confirmed to be out.
Sean Dyche is also dealing with AFCON withdrawals, losing midfielder Ibrahim Sangaré and defender Willy Boly. On a positive note, Nicolas Domínguez and goalkeeper Matz Sels are expected to return. The injury list is lengthy, with Chris Wood, Ola Aina, and Ryan Yates unavailable.
Fulham has struggled lately, winning only two of their last six league matches. However, they have traditionally performed well at Craven Cottage against Forest, winning all three of their Premier League home games against them while conceding just once. Recently, they’ve been high-scoring, with both teams hitting the net in their last four league matches.
Under Dyche, Forest has improved significantly, winning four of their last six Premier League games. This marks a turnaround from their earlier performance, where they managed only four wins in 18 games. Their offense has thrived, scoring three or more goals in three of their eight games under Dyche, but their track record at Craven Cottage is poor, having lost all three Premier League matches there, conceding nine goals while scoring just one.
Fulham predicted XI: Leno; Tete, Andersen, Cuenca, Robinson; Berge, Lukić; Wilson, Smith Rowe, Kevin; Jiménez
Nottingham Forest predicted XI: Sels; Savona, Murillo, Milenković, Williams; Luiz, Anderson; Hutchinson, Gibbs-White, Hudson-Odoi; Jesus
The match will be broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League, starting at 19:00 GMT.
