Gabriel Magalhães has withdrawn from international duty with Brazil.
The centre-back pulled out of the squad for upcoming friendlies against France and Croatia due to pain in his right knee. The Brazilian national team confirmed this decision.
“Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães is out of the friendlies against France and Croatia,” the statement read.
“After the match on Sunday against Manchester City in the English League Cup final, the player reported pain in his right knee.
“Imaging tests have confirmed that Gabriel Magalhães is not fit for the matches in this FIFA international window, and no replacement will be called up.”
Gabriel played in Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final but will not join the national team this month.
He joins his club teammates William Saliba (France) and Eberechi Eze (England), who have also withdrawn from international duty. The three will stay in North London to recover.
Marquinhos, Bremer, Roger Ibañez, and Léo Pereira are set to take on centre-back roles for Brazil as they continue their preparation for the 2026 World Cup.
