According to TyC Sports, Alejandro Gagliardi is having an impressive season at Agropecuario de Carlos Casares, topping the Primera Nacional scoring list with 16 goals in 26 games. This is a stark contrast to his previous time at the club, where he went 27 matches without scoring between 2019 and 2021, spending two years without a single goal. This struggle led him to seek therapy, believing his issues were more mental than technical. “I scored in training but not in matches. It was tough,” said the 36-year-old forward from Córdoba.
His turning point came in 2021 at Villa Dálmine, where he ended his scoring drought with two goals against San Telmo. His confidence surged, and he continued to score while playing for Gimnasia de Jujuy, Santamarina, and Flandria. In early 2024, Agropecuario president Bernardo Grobocopatel gave him another chance, which Gagliardi took enthusiastically. He now enjoys life in Carlos Casares, a town that reminds him of his hometown Los Surgentes, providing him with the balance he sought.
Gagliardi’s career has been marked by resilience. A product of Instituto, he made his debut in 2007 as a right midfielder before transitioning to a striker. His big break came in 2015 with Nueva Chicago, where he netted ten goals in ten matches, including an unforgettable four-goal game against Newell’s. However, his journey has included personal sacrifices; during his teens, he distributed flyers in Córdoba to support himself while living away from his family.
Now, after over fifteen clubs and many challenges, Gagliardi has regained his goal-scoring form. As the top scorer in the Primera Nacional, he represents both personal redemption and the fruits of determination.
