The Los Angeles Galaxy are on the verge of signing Jakob Glesnes, a former MLS Defender of the Year, from the Philadelphia Union, as reported by The Athletic on Saturday.

The details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Glesnes, 31, was awarded the Union’s first MLS Defender of the Year title in 2022. He received accolades as a three-time All-Star and placed second in the 2025 voting, following Tristan Blackmon of the Vancouver Whitecaps and ahead of his teammate Kai Wagner.

During the 2025 season, the Galaxy conceded 66 goals, ranking them second in the league, just behind Sporting Kansas City, which allowed 70. Los Angeles won only seven matches and failed to make the playoffs, despite winning the MLS Cup in 2024.
