Patrick Vieira is no longer the coach of Genoa. After a night of deliberation, the Italian club and the French manager have mutually agreed to end their partnership, as reported by Sky Sport. The decision was made ahead of a crucial match against Sassuolo scheduled for Monday, which was initially seen as a key test for Vieira’s future. Domenico Criscito, currently the coach of the club’s U17 team, will take over on an interim basis.
Struggling since the start of the season, Genoa currently holds the last position in Serie A, collecting only three points in nine matches, without a single win and having the lowest scoring record in the league (four goals scored, tied with Parma). Several names are already being discussed as potential successors to Vieira, including Daniele De Rossi, Paolo Vanoli, and Luca Gotti. While Criscito’s chances of being appointed permanently seem low at the moment, they remain a possibility if he achieves positive results and performances against Sassuolo.
