Germany manager Julian Nagelsmann has expressed support for Nick Woltemade despite his recent difficulties at Newcastle.

Woltemade transferred to Newcastle from Stuttgart for a club-record fee of £69m last summer. He made a strong start at St James’ Park but has struggled with his form recently.

The forward has been playing in a different midfield role and has not scored in his last 11 league matches.

Woltemade is Germany’s top forward as the team prepares for the 2026 World Cup, and Nagelsmann has shown confidence in the 24-year-old.

He highlighted that Woltemade, who has scored four goals in eight appearances for the national team, can regain his form and emphasized that the player needs time to adjust to English football.

In an interview with Kicker, Nagelsmann said: “He’s a young player who needs time to develop, as you can see now in Newcastle.

“I don’t expect him to score 15 goals at Newcastle and lead us to a World Cup title. If he does, that would be remarkable. I told him last week to remain calm. We have faith in him.“
