Gift Links is struggling to understand why he has been left out of the Bafana Bafana squad without any explanation from coach Hugo Broos or his team.
Links has been performing well for his Danish SuperLiga team, AFG Aarhus, where he has made 200 appearances in Scandinavia, yet he has not been selected for the national team.
The Bafana coach has not provided any reasons for not including the midfielder, and Links has remained quiet about the situation for some time.
Missing the World Cup may have led him to think that an explanation for his exclusion would help.
“No, I have never received any explanation. I was there in 2021, and then I left, and I never heard from anyone,” Links shared on the SoccerBeat podcast.
“It’s really difficult for me because if I did something wrong, an explanation would help. I attended the national team camp in 2021, returned, and since then, I haven’t been included in the squad. I don’t know why, as no one has communicated anything to me. Maybe I did something wrong.”
He emphasized his commitment to his club’s success.
“I’m in the dark and have no idea what is happening. But it’s football, so I won’t dwell on it. All I can do is keep working hard in Denmark, and maybe one day circumstances will change,” he said.
