Tigres may be without their star striker André-Pierre Gignac when they face Pumas in Matchday 9 of the Apertura 2025. The French forward has only played 112 minutes this season and scored one goal, with his availability still unclear, according to Mediotiempo.
The 39-year-old injured his right knee during training before the match against Chivas, which kept him out of the game in Guadalajara. The club is keeping a close eye on his recovery, with a final decision expected on Friday before the team’s trip to Mexico City.
If he cannot play, this would be Gignac’s third absence of the season. Injuries limited him to just three appearances last semester, marking a challenging time for one of the top scorers in Liga MX. Since joining Tigres in 2015, he has scored 220 goals in 415 matches and won 11 titles in domestic and international competitions.
The match against Pumas is set for Saturday at 7:00 p.m. local time (9:00 p.m. ET) at Estadio Olímpico Universitario, as Tigres looks to maintain their position near the top of the standings.
