On the last day of the transfer window, it was reported that Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner was so firm about blocking Marc Guehi’s move to Liverpool that he allegedly threatened to resign. Glasner has now responded to these claims.

Details: The Palace manager firmly denied these allegations, saying he never threatened to leave the club. The decision by club owner Steve Parish to keep Guehi was based solely on sporting reasons and had nothing to do with Glasner personally.

Quote: “I think this is the last time I want to talk about this. Crystal Palace fans deserve to know the truth. So much has been said. I never threatened to leave the club, never… I didn’t need to threaten anyone.

There was no tension between the chairman and me. It was just a sporting discussion, and he made the decision from a sporting viewpoint, not for financial reasons. Credit to the chairman,” Glasner said.
