Oliver Glasner encourages Crystal Palace to focus on the positives following their Carabao Cup quarter-final loss to Arsenal.

The team was eliminated after a penalty shootout at the Emirates Stadium.

Palace faced significant pressure from Arsenal in the first half, with goalkeeper Walter Benitez making key saves. However, they fell behind in the 80th minute when Maxence Lacroix accidentally scored an own goal.

Despite this late goal, Palace rallied and equalized with a stoppage-time goal from Marc Guehi, sending the match to penalties.

In the shootout, Palace lost 8-7 after Lacroix’s kick was saved by Kepa Arrizabalaga. Glasner expressed pride in his team’s performance.

“Losing a game, especially on penalties, is always disappointing,” Glasner said. “However, I’m pleased with how we played in the second half, especially compared to the first half, which was poor. Walter Benitez kept us in the game, and the second half was much improved.”

“We’ve had two penalty shootouts this year that we won, but today Arsenal was the luckier team. I’ve seen many penalty shootouts, and today’s were well-taken overall. One player had to miss, and it was ours today, but there’s no blame.”

“I talked to the players. It’s crucial we build on our second-half game and show that strong character again. Going one goal down from a set-play felt like déjà vu from our earlier league match with Arsenal. Coming back after everything that has happened recently shows the players’ strong mentality, and we’ll take many positives from today.”
