Carrick’s Man Utd return criticised by Keane and Neville
Michael Carrick has returned to Manchester United as head coach until the season ends. While Roy Keane and Gary Neville have expressed their doubts, another former player suggests it’s best to reserve judgment for now.
Carrick is stepping back into a role where he will once again be in the spotlight.
The 42-year-old is familiar with the club, having played for them, served as a coach, and acted as interim manager before leaving in 2021.
His time at Middlesbrough provided him with important Championship experience, although he narrowly missed promotion despite coming close several times. His tenure ended after a tough start to last season.
Manchester United fans will support Carrick as they have with previous managers, but he will also need to gain respect from former players who are now pundits.
