Graham Potter, the coach of Sweden, has dampened hopes for Alexander Isak’s return, stating that the Liverpool forward is not yet ready to play two full matches with the national team. “He had a good week and is available,” Potter said at a press conference. “But we have to be smart with him because he has been out for a while.” Signed by Liverpool this summer, Isak has been dealing with several minor injuries since joining and is struggling to regain his rhythm, despite recently being on the bench during the 3-0 loss to Manchester City.

Potter, who was recently appointed to replace Jon Dahl Tomasson, confirmed that Isak’s usage will be limited in the upcoming crucial qualifiers. “He’s not ready to play two 90-minute matches,” the 50-year-old coach stated. He added, “We have to wait until tomorrow to see.” Facing a challenging start to his tenure and a team struggling in its group, Potter will have to make do with an Isak who is still far from his best form.
