Grimsby Town Defeats Manchester United in Penalty Shootout to Advance in Carabao Cup

Grimsby Town achieved a stunning upset by defeating Manchester United 12-11 in a penalty shootout during their Carabao Cup second round match on Wednesday.

In the shootout, Clarke Oduor from Grimsby and Matheus Cunha from United both had their penalties saved, while Bryan Mbeumo’s missed kick ultimately secured the victory for Grimsby.

This marked a low point for United, as it was the first time they lost a League Cup match to a fourth division team.

In the first half, Charles Vernam and Tyrell Warren scored for Grimsby, but late goals from Mbeumo and Harry Maguire for United sent the game to penalties.
