Barcelona will visit the Estadio Pedro Escartín to play against CD Guadalajara, a team from the third division, in the Copa del Rey Round of 32 on Tuesday. The Catalan club aims to defend their title from last season.
There are no new injuries or suspensions for Guadalajara. The team is looking to deliver a strong performance against the titleholders, marking their first match against Barcelona.
Pablo Munoz will lead the attack, having scored three goals and provided two assists this season. Alejandro Canizo is expected to play in an attacking role, while Pablo Rojo is likely to start in midfield.
Barcelona’s coach, Hansi Flick, has indicated that there will be player rotations for this match. Goalkeeper Joan García will be rested as important fixtures approach, with either Marc-André ter Stegen or Wojciech Szczesny likely to step in.
The main injury concern is Dani Olmo, who dislocated his shoulder during a match against Atlético Madrid on December 2. He is expected to be out for about a month and will miss the remaining games in 2025.
Defender Ronald Araújo has been given indefinite leave for personal reasons, as confirmed by sporting director Deco.
CD Guadalajara reached the Round of 32 by winning against Cacereno (2-1) and Ceuta (1-0) in earlier rounds. Currently, they sit in 17th place in the Primera Federación with 17 points from 16 matches. Their recent form has been mixed, with a 1-0 win over Osasuna B on December 7, followed by a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid Castilla last weekend.
Barcelona is in strong form, winning their last five matches across all competitions. They have recorded victories in La Liga against Alavés (3-1), Atlético Madrid (3-1), Real Betis (5-3), and Osasuna (2-0). In the Champions League, they won 2-1 against Eintracht Frankfurt. Currently, Barcelona leads La Liga by four points.
