Pep Guardiola has announced that Marc Guehi will debut for Manchester City against Wolves tomorrow.
Guehi recently joined City from Crystal Palace for £20 million. The England international moved to the club at a reduced price, as his contract with Palace was set to expire this summer.
His arrival strengthens Guardiola’s defense during a crucial time, with John Stones, Ruben Dias, and Josko Gvardiol unavailable.
At a pre-match press conference, Guardiola confirmed Guehi’s inclusion in the lineup but noted that he is not the sole answer to recent defensive challenges.
“Yes, yes. Really good [signing] for a central defender,” Guardiola stated when asked about Guehi’s debut. “He is a player for the national team and was a captain last season. I believe he will help, but the issues are not just one player’s responsibility.”
“We cannot afford to lose games. Man City is at a level where losses are unacceptable. We need to turn things around and aim for victories tomorrow and Wednesday.”
