Guardiola: Manchester City Still Short of Title-Winning Standard

Pep Guardiola has stated that Manchester City are ‘not at the level required to win the title’ even though the team is in strong form.

City has won six consecutive matches in all competitions, entering the holiday period with confidence. They recently defeated Brentford to reach the Carabao Cup semi-finals, and their next match is against West Ham in the Premier League tomorrow.

Despite narrowing the gap on Premier League leaders Arsenal to just two points, Guardiola emphasized the need for improvement to reclaim the title.

“We have results, but there are many areas where we need to get better,” he remarked at his pre-match press conference. “The mentality and commitment are exceptional, but we are still not at the necessary level to win the title.”

Guardiola comments on Manchester City exit rumors

This week, Guardiola has been linked to a possible exit from Manchester City at the end of the season. He is under contract until 2027 and will have managed the team for a decade by season’s end.

Regarding his future, Guardiola stated, “I often receive this question, so I will eventually leave Manchester City. I have 18 months remaining on my contract, and I’m very pleased with the team’s progress. This question comes up every season. Whatever will happen, will happen.”
