Deportivo Guastatoya has appointed Pablo Centrone as its new head coach after a difficult start to the Apertura 2025 season. According to Prensa Libre, the Argentine manager takes charge of a team currently at the bottom of the table, with only one point from seven matches and having already changed coaches three times this season.
Centrone comes from Xinabajul, which had a challenging year losing its league spot due to regulatory issues before being reinstated by the Court of Arbitration for Sport. However, the club struggled to register and was eventually disaffiliated. The 66-year-old now faces another tough situation with a Guastatoya team still looking for its first win.
The Apertura season began with Uruguayan manager Ariel Sena, who recorded four losses and one draw over five games and was then dismissed, leaving the team with just one point. Interim coach Mike Leonardo managed two matches, but losses to Atlético Mictlán and Deportivo Mixco ended his brief stint.
On social media, Guastatoya welcomed Centrone, emphasizing his experience and dedication, stating he was joining the “Pecho Amarillo family.” His goal will be to stabilize a struggling campaign and motivate a team in urgent need of positive results.
