The absence of Ludovic Blas and Seko Fofana in the match against Toulouse has sparked considerable discussion. In a press conference ahead of the Rennes-Strasbourg match, the 48-year-old Senegalese coach reaffirmed that everything has been reset since Thursday, and both key players have a solid chance of being part of the squad for the clash scheduled for this Sunday at 3 PM IST.

“There’s no need to ‘reinstate’ them since they continued training with the team; they just weren’t available for the Toulouse match, and I explained why. They have been present in training, and everyone has performed well. We still have tomorrow’s session to evaluate competitiveness and commitment, and decisions will be made then. I am responsible for maintaining the standards at Stade Rennais, and when that’s lacking on the field, I must make choices. The 20 players who featured against Toulouse were those performing best. However, from the next day, the competition has been reopened, and we will see who is most competitive to play against Strasbourg, a match that will be very tough. We need to be 200% committed and show character, just like in Toulouse,” the former Red Star coach explained on Friday. Notably, the 30-year-old Ivorian international has played 9 matches (out of 10 possible) this season, scoring one goal, and was named Stade Rennais’ player of the month for August by the supporters. Meanwhile, Ludovic Blas, the 27-year-old attacking midfielder, has played in 8 matches, contributing two goals and one assist.
