Hansi Flick Aims to Keep Key Players After Signing Two Stars from Barcelona

Footem.inHansi Flick is focused on keeping two key players at Barcelona as the summer transfer window is still underway. The German coach is determined not to lose any more players at this stage.

According to Sport, the 60-year-old manager has emphasized that he doesn’t want to lose any more players this summer.

Following the departure of Inigo Martinez, Flick believes his squad cannot bear another loss, prompting him to intervene and block potential transfers of Fermin Lopez and Marc Casado.

Flick has been consistent in his approach since taking over as head coach at the Catalan club. He prefers to keep the squad that delivered results last season rather than bringing in unnecessary additions.

This view is also supported by sporting director Deco, who agrees that stability is vital for Barcelona’s success this season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s interest in Fermin has been growing in recent weeks. The West London club is reportedly preparing a bid of 50 million euros for the player.

However, Flick is firmly against letting the young midfielder go, viewing Fermin as a crucial part of his system.

Flick Highly Values Fermin Lopez

The 22-year-old midfielder recently expressed his concerns about playing time due to the intense competition in Barcelona’s midfield.

Despite this, Flick has spoken personally with Fermin after the match against Levante, honestly explaining the player’s role—something that is characteristic of the German coach in managing his squad.

Flick sees Fermin as more than just a rotational option. The La Masia academy graduate brings intensity to pressing, quick ball recovery, vertical runs that penetrate opposition defenses, and speeds up Barcelona’s attacking play.

These qualities align perfectly with Flick’s high-energy philosophy, which relies on players who can transition quickly and maintain pressure after losing the ball.

While Chelsea may continue to test Barcelona’s resolve in keeping their young star, Flick has made it clear that he does not want to lose this potential starter.

Ultimately, much will depend on the player’s decision, but for now, Flick is determined to retain both Fermin and Casado this season.
