Footem.in – Bayern Munich can breathe a sigh of relief as their star player, Harry Kane, is likely to stay at the Allianz Arena, despite interest from Spanish club Barcelona.
Barca and Spurs Eye Kane as Contract Nears End
Recent weeks have seen much discussion about Harry Kane’s future in Bavaria, especially after the English international’s impressive scoring record since joining Bayern Munich in 2023.
With his contract in Bavaria set to end in 2027, clubs like Barcelona and his former team, Tottenham Hotspur, have been linked with a transfer for Kane.
Barcelona, in particular, has identified Kane as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who may leave Camp Nou at the end of the season.
Harry Kane Leaning Towards Bayern Stay
However, according to The Athletic journalist David Ornstein, Kane seems inclined to extend his stay at Bayern Munich.
The club has a strong relationship with the former Leicester City star, who is reportedly open to renewing his contract. However, both parties are in no rush at this time.
Kane’s current contract includes a release clause worth €65 million, which can be activated in January or next summer, subject to Kane confirming his decision to the club one month prior.
Generally, however, the 32-year-old striker is not expected to take that step and will remain at the Allianz Arena for the foreseeable future.
Barca Must Look Elsewhere
While Ornstein acknowledges recent interest from Barca and Spurs, he emphasizes that no discussions have taken place with these potential suitors.
Therefore, it is highly likely that Kane will stay and continue his career at Bayern Munich next season, forcing Barcelona to seek alternative players.
Barcelona had considered Kane as another Lewandowski-like player – who has greatly benefited the club over the last three seasons – whom they could recruit next year.
However, with the slim possibility of a Kane transfer, the reigning La Liga champions must consider other potential recruits in the upcoming transfer window.
