Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane is experiencing an impressive phase in his career, achieving milestones that put him ahead of many football legends. Recently, the England international surpassed Lionel Messi by scoring two goals in Bayern’s 5-1 Champions League win over Pafos FC.

With these two goals, Kane became the fastest player to reach 20 goal contributions in Europe’s top five leagues, achieving this in just 742 minutes. He has a total of 17 goals and three assists, breaking a record previously held by Messi.

Messi set the previous record during the 2011-12 season with Barcelona, reaching 20 goal contributions in 749 minutes. That season was remarkable for him, as he won multiple titles including the Ballon d’Or.

In third place for this achievement is Messi again, who needed 844 minutes in the 2016-17 season. Kane also ranks fourth, having reached 20 goal contributions in 871 minutes while playing for Tottenham in the 2020/21 season.

Kane continues to break records

This season has been exceptional for Harry Kane at Bayern Munich, with the team winning every competitive match so far. The striker has been setting records with a series of historic achievements.

After scoring twice in Bayern’s Champions League opener against Chelsea, Kane became only the third player in the competition’s history, joining Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar, to reach 20 or more goals with two different clubs.

He continued his scoring in the Bundesliga with another double against Werder Bremen, becoming the fastest player in Europe’s top five leagues—Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and England—to hit 100 goals for a single club.

Additionally, Kane made history in English soccer. With his latest goals against Pafos FC, he reached 55 total goal contributions in the Champions League (44 goals and 11 assists), surpassing David Beckham’s previous record of 53 and becoming the most productive English player in the competition’s history.
