The Pumas secured a home victory over Atlas in a surprising match in Mexico City. According to Récord, a hailstorm hit the Estadio Olímpico Universitario during the last minutes of Matchday 7 in the Apertura 2025, right when Aaron Ramsey scored the stoppage-time goal that clinched the win for the home team.

The heavy rain affected not just the field, where large puddles formed, but also the stadium’s corridors. Videos showed water accumulating in hallways under the stands, including the path to the press room. This flooding led to the cancellation of Atlas manager Diego Martín Cocca’s postgame press conference, as access to that area was blocked.

As Pumas celebrated their three points, the event underscored the stadium’s vulnerability to severe weather. Opened in 1952 and known for hosting significant sporting events, the venue struggled to handle the storm, leaving parts of it waterlogged and complicating post-match activities.

The capital has been experiencing heavy rainfall, and Sunday’s match served as another example of its effects on daily life. What was supposed to be remembered for Ramsey’s late goal is now also associated with the sight of flooded corridors in one of Mexican football’s most famous venues.
