Bixente Lizarazu believes Paris Saint-Germain missed a huge opportunity to finish the tie against Liverpool FC in the first leg.
Speaking on Telefoot, the 1998 World Cup winner was clear in his assessment: “They could have killed Liverpool. They could have won 4 or 5-0.”
He emphasised the dominance shown by the Parisian side: “They were so far above. So there is frustration, Luis Enrique spoke about it. The match was done at 4 or 5-0.”
Lizarazu also warned that leaving the tie open could have consequences: “Now they leave them a little bit of hope for the second leg. After that, I think there is such a gap between the two teams.”
He was particularly critical of Liverpool’s display: “The technical control, the collective of Paris Saint-Germain is much stronger than this Liverpool team which was beaten, without resources and only defended – and badly. I don’t know how they will manage to recover from that.”
