Eddie Howe has stated that Newcastle is ready for an exciting match as they prepare for Friday’s Champions League draw.
Newcastle will find out their opponents for the Round of 16 on Friday morning after securing a victory against Qarabag earlier this week.
The team will either face Chelsea or Barcelona in the next round, and Howe is eager about the chance to compete against either club.
Earlier this season, Newcastle had an exciting 2-2 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League and also played against Barcelona during the league phase.
Commenting on the upcoming draw, Howe said: “It’s a really special and positive moment for us. We’re just thankful we can’t face Man City! We are looking forward to what the draw will bring and to that game when it happens.”
“It’s interesting – you could end up playing Chelsea three times in a week.”
“We had a fantastic match against them here – I thought we played exceptionally well. I hold them in high regard, especially since they have a new manager since our last encounter.”
“The match against Barcelona at home was quite similar; I felt we performed well.”
“We’re in a great position – whoever we face will be an exciting challenge for us.”
