Eddie Howe has stated that he is fully committed to achieving success at Newcastle amidst rumors linking him to the head coach position at Manchester United.

Manchester United is on the lookout for a new head coach following the dismissal of Ruben Amorim on Monday. Darren Fletcher will step in to manage the team against Burnley tonight, while former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has offered to take on a caretaker role.

In the long run, the club aims to hire a manager with Premier League experience. Howe is among several candidates being considered, which also includes Oliver Glasner from Crystal Palace and Andoni Iraola from Bournemouth.

The 48-year-old has led Newcastle since 2021 and brought home the League Cup, ending the club’s long wait for a major trophy last season. He has also successfully guided the team to the Champions League twice.

However, Howe has clarified that he is not interested in the Manchester United position. During his pre-match press conference before the game against Leeds, he emphasized that he is completely focused on Newcastle.

“Nothing has changed from my perspective – I’m fully here, working hard, keeping my head down, and ignoring any external commentary, whether positive or negative, as it doesn’t affect my focus,” he said.

“It’s all about today’s work and preparing the team for Leeds to the best of my ability, which is my primary commitment.”

“As long as I’m happy and can contribute effectively to the team, my focus will remain unchanged.”
