Hull City is close to breaking into the promotion spots from the Championship, with only six points between third-placed Ipswich and 11th-placed QPR.

The Tigers are currently in seventh place, tied on points with Watford but trailing due to a goal difference of 2 compared to Watford’s 8.

In their effort to secure a play-off spot for a chance at Premier League entry, Hull is pursuing a talented midfielder from Manchester United.

Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic recently spoke to BBC Sounds about his interest in signing Toby Collyer on loan for the remainder of the season.

Jakirovic mentioned that he had already discussed Collyer with Jonny Evans, who was handling loan players before moving to West Bromwich Albion.

He stated, “I spoke to him this summer. It was a good conversation.”

He added, “I talked to Johnny Evans, who was responsible for loan players. He decided to go to West Brom. Now he’s back at Manchester United, so we’ll see what happens.”

When asked about his confidence in completing the deal, Jakirovic said: “I think he can play positions 6 and 8, and he’s capable of running 12 kilometers in a game. He just needs minutes, like every young player.”

“I feel disappointed he didn’t choose us earlier, as he may have misunderstood our situation.”

“Maybe now, he and other players see we have a strong team that can compete well week after week.”

“If there’s an opportunity to bring him here now, I would like to do it.”

Sky Sports’ Danyal Khan reported that Hull City has reached out to Manchester United about Collyer, one of several clubs interested in him.

This aligns with Manchester United’s plan to loan out Toby Collyer again this season for his development.

Thus, Collyer might join The Tigers this month to bolster their push for a return to the Premier League after nine seasons away from the top division.
