Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has called on the Premier League to implement a rule against time wasting following his team’s loss to Arsenal.
The Seagulls fell 1-0 to Arsenal at the Amex Stadium on Wednesday, with Bukayo Saka’s early goal making the difference in a match that lacked excitement.
Hurzeler had expressed concerns about Arsenal’s tactics before the match and maintained his stance after the final whistle.
The German coach was visibly frustrated with Arsenal’s approach, urging the Premier League to take action to enhance the quality of the game.
“We can’t control these kind of things. Therefore, the Premier League has to find a rule. It’s not my responsibility. I may have pointed out one instance of time wasting, but there were many more,” he stated.
“There are different ways to win. If they win the Premier League, no one will question how they achieved it.”
He added, “You can really sense their determination to win. Ultimately, it’s about the rules; if the Premier League and referees allow everything, it becomes challenging. They start to set their own rules.”
“Right now, it feels like they are making their own rules, regardless of how they play.”
