Ian Wright on His Golf Handicap and Home Course
Ian Wright mentioned he is golfing a lot these days and feels proud of his progress.
“I’m a golfer. I’m off a seven [handicap]. I’m playing a lot. Since my knee replacement, especially, it’s gotten a lot better,” he said on the Stick to Football podcast.
He also highlighted his local club in Middlesex. “My golf club is Ashford Manor in Middlesex. My friend Tony manages it,” he noted.
The club is well-established and provides a welcoming atmosphere with a close-knit community.
A seven handicap indicates that Wright is quite skilled at golf. His game has benefited from the knee operation, allowing him to play more frequently.

Roy Keane Claims Golf Looks Easy
Roy Keane shared his thoughts with his usual humor. Speaking to Wright, he said: “I don’t play golf, but it looks easy. Just get it in the hole.”
“I don’t understand golfers. I watch the best players in the world… the hole is right there, and you get it in the hole, and everyone cheers. Just put it in the hole. I’m serious. It’s like when you get a tap-in at Yeovil.”
Keane’s remarks playfully irritated Wright, who eventually left the studio, reflecting his straightforward nature.
Wright’s response demonstrated how much he values the challenge of golf, given his consistent play.
